MMI Roadmap: The Five Phases
1. Define the goal. [Completed]
Create a common market index for virtual worlds: The key goal of MMI is to create reliable, meaningful and consistent information about three aspects of virtual worlds: the size and engagement of its user base; the vibrancy of its economy; and the key aspects of its technology. The first two goals should help people who are making decisions to invest in virtual worlds in the absence of inter-operability; the third should help platform developers move toward inter-operability.
2. Establish the foundations. [Current Phase]
Develop the MMI community: Our objective is to build as inclusive a community as we can, and be as responsive to the community as possible. Our fist step is to assemble an advisory board whose input is required for refining MMI's mission and services as well as developing a common market index. Please be assured that our organization plans to help the industry set standards, but not impose them. Rather, we seek to facilitate reasoned discussion based on reliable and meaningful data.
3. Attain financial support.
Cultivate sponsors and partnerships: This phase consists of acquiring the financial resources necessary for MMI to achieve its ground-breaking objectives. We seek generous start-up contributions as MMI embarks on a first-of-its kind common market index project.
4. Develop the Metanomics Market Index.
Define common metrics and taxonomy: In order for the industry to grow beyond its current stage it needs a common set of metrics and semantic understanding by which one can measure and compare virtual world platforms. During this phase the MMI Advisory Board will identify and advocate a common set of metrics and denominators for developing a Metanomics Market Index that can be used as a common yardstick by anyone wanting to invest time and resources in the metaverse industry.
5. Track the metrics.
Collect data and rationalize the metrics: Once a common set of denominators has been established, this phase will consist of on-going tracking of reliable data obtained from virtual world platform developers. MMI will provide a searchable database of platforms and virtual worlds that enables the community to aggregate, visualize and rationalize data from the Metanomics Market Index for making informed decisions that advance the overall development of the metaverse industry.
