The Advisory Board

MMI is currently in the process of creating an advisory board.

The advisory board will include representatives from all constituencies that are likely to share MMI’s mission and goals, including (but not limited to): academics and academic institutions; inworld and real world businesses; platform developers; non-profit organizations using virtual worlds in the public interest; individual virtual world residents; and those currently pursuing goals similar to those of MMI.

Advisors are expected to maintain an active presence in the MMI community. Depending on their interest and resources, advisors might

  • Work with MMI to develop and refine standards for data, and help secure that data;
  • Initiate and participate in discussions on the MMI website regarding appropriate interpretation of data, plans to achieve interoperability, or policy issues;
  • Identify topics and speakers for MMI events, and attend or speak at such events;
  • Identify sources of funding necessary to support MMI’s services, and (where possible and appropriate) help to provide such funding from their own organizations.

If you interested in becoming an advisor, please contact Robert Bloomfield at rjb9 (at) cornell (dot) edu.
